The line that directly connects to the plane of the track is the hypotenuse. We are therefore in the NAS

Sin Θ = W / H

Θ = depression angle = 31 °
W = aircraft height = 500
H = distance between the plane of the band ....

A = W / sin Θ
A = (500) / sin (31) = 970802

2)
This is similar to the first question, unless the distance is the diagonal of the soldiers, but the horizontal distance from the mast. So we resolve on the side to side, and must use tanning beds Θ.

Θ = elevation angle = 60 °
Y = height of pole = 50
A = The horizontalDistance from the pole

A = W / tan Θ

2 is because in a 30-60-90 triangle is opposite the angle 60degree x [square root of 3]. To find the part you need, what is x divided by the square root of 3 and I ~ 28.8675135.

Otherwise, I do not know. I was not good with an angle of depression. Actually, I should say more about it. Lol.
